The use of disinfectants is often not enough to
\nproduce transparent, crystal-clear water. Using
\nflocculants encourages and facilitate the filtration
\nprocess by making very small particles filterable
\nwhen they otherwise would not be. Using a
\nflocculant therefore helps to make the water crystal\u0002clear, transparent and bright.
\nThe swimming pool water frequently loses its
\ntransparency and appears cloudy as a result of:
\n\uf09f Algae and bacteria
\n\uf09f Calcium and magnesium salt precipitation
\n\uf09f Dust carried by the air or bathers
\n\uf09f Oxidation of iron and manganese salts
\n\uf09f Organic and colloidal substances
\nIn most cases, the particles added to the water
\nare extremely small or micro-dispersed and do not
\nbecome large enough to be captured by filtration
\nsystems. Flocculants improve the capacity of
\nparticles to join together and form larger, more
\nfilterable aggregates. Colloids normally tend to
\nreject each other due to the electrostatic loads found on their surfaces. Flocculants neutralize these
\nloads, allowing aggregates to form, which can then
\nbe captured by the filter.<\/p>\n

Flocculants are divided into two categories:
\n\u2022 ORGANIC \u2013 these are made up of polymer
\nmolecules that act as coagulants. Ideal for rapid
\nfilters and slow filters
\n\u2022 INORGANIC \u2013 these are made up of
\nwater-soluble salts of transition metals. Ideal for
\nslow filters<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>Using a feed pump, inject 0.5ml of Flocculant for each cubic meter of the recirculation flow, prior to the filter entrance or in the compensation pool.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>Put the amount of Flocculant in tablet form needed directly into the skimmer (from 1 to 3 tablets every 100 cubic metres) or liquid (0.5l\/1ml \/m3<\/sup>).
\nFlocculants are not used for diatom, sock or cartridge filters, while they are suitable for sand and glass filters.<\/p>\n
\nInject it into the recirculation line
\nUse a dosing pump to inject 0.5 ml of flocculant per cubic meter of recirculation flow, before to the filter inlet or in the balance tank.
\nIn the Skimmer
\nPut the required number of flocculant tablets (from 1 to 3 tablets per 100 cubic metres) or amount of liquid (0.5\u20131 l\/m3) directly into the skimmers.
